Roadways across the state of Illinois are becoming more and more dangerous every day. These days, just getting from point A to point B can be a very risky endeavour. Now more than ever, drivers should always pay attention and remain focused at all times behind the wheel. Car accidents can happen without warning in the blink of an eye.
A recent multiple-vehicle crash near Germantown claimed the life of one man and injured five other people. The accident involved three vehicles total and happened on Illinois 161 during the afternoon hours. According to reports, the driver of an eastbound pickup truck crossed the center line of the highway and drove into oncoming traffic. Reports said the truck sideswiped a westbound car then collided head-on with another westbound car.
The driver of the sideswiped car was injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment, authorities said. Reportedly, the other car contained two adults and two children, and they all sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Tragically, the driver of the pickup truck was killed in the crash, according to police. Apparently, he was driving to work, and it is not yet known why he crossed into oncoming traffic.
It goes without saying that no one wants to be involved in a crash. However, due to overcrowded roadways and negligent drivers, car accidents are becoming almost inevitable in Illinois. Those who have suffered injuries or loss as the result of negligence in an accident could benefit from discussions with an attorney. A successful lawsuit can result in much-needed compensation to help victims and families with medical expenses and other documented losses.
