A young, successful vice president at one of the country's largest information technology staffing firms had a heart valve condition which led to an infection in his heart that doctors affiliated with Northwestern Memorial Hospital repeatedly misdiagnosed. The infection, a condition termed infective endocarditis, caused our client to have an embolic stroke when infected material broke free of a heart valve, leaving him with severe physical, language and cognitive disabilities. We represented him in setting his malpractice lawsuit against the groups representing the doctors, securing $10.2 million (one of the largest settlements in Cook County during 2008) that was used to continue his rehabilitation and search for other ways for him to recover.
